Jaipur has been the home of marble moorti carving for generations, and many families across India and abroad want their moorti from here. But not everyone can travel to Chandpol Bazar to choose in person. The good news is that you can buy a marble moorti from Jaipur online safely, as long as you know what to ask and what to check. This is how we work with families, temple trusts and NRIs who order from a distance.
In short
- Decide the deity, size and finish first. Measure your mandir before you ask for prices.
- Ask for real photos of finished pieces, not catalogue images.
- For custom moortis, approve a drawing before carving starts.
- Get photo updates during carving, and insist on crated, insured delivery.
Step 1: Decide the deity, form and size
Start with the deity and the form your family prays to. Ganesh ji alone can be seated on a lotus, on a singhasan, or with a carved prabhavali behind him. Radha Krishna can be a jodi on one base or a standing pair. If your pandit ji has guidance on the form, follow it.
Then measure. Note the inside height, width and depth of your mandir or niche, and choose a moorti that leaves about a quarter of the height free above the crown. As a rough guide, home mandir shelves suit 6 to 12 inch, pooja rooms 12 to 24 inch, large halls 24 to 48 inch, and temples 4 ft and above.
Browse by deity to see what is possible: Radha Krishna, Ganesh ji, Hanuman ji, Devi Maa, Shiv ji, Ram Darbar and marble mandirs.
Step 2: Ask for real photos and a clear quote
Catalogue photos only tell you so much. Ask the workshop for real photos of finished moortis in the size you want, taken in daylight, including a close-up of the face. A face that looks calm and balanced in a plain phone photo is a good sign.
A clear quote should name the deity and form, the size, the marble, the finish, the delivery to your city and the timeline. We send one fixed quote before any work starts, with no hidden charges for packing or finishing. To understand why prices differ between sellers, read our marble moorti price guide.
Start with a photo. Send the moorti you have in mind, or a picture of your mandir with a measuring tape in the frame. We reply within 10 minutes on WhatsApp, 10 am to 8 pm.
Send photo on WhatsAppStep 3: Check the marble and the carving
When you buy online, these are the questions worth asking:
- Which marble is it? Fine-grain white marble, such as Makrana from Rajasthan, takes a smooth, lasting polish.
- Is it one block? A moorti carved from a single block has no joints that can open or stain over time. Every moorti we make is single-block.
- Is the face carved by hand? The face, eyes, hands and jewellery should be finished by a skilled karigar.
- Is the form shastra-correct? The mudra, vahan and ayudh should follow tradition. We are happy to check details with your pandit ji.
Step 4: Approve the design for custom work
If you want a custom moorti, for example a copy of the moorti in your family mandir or a temple you visited, send any photo or drawing. We prepare a sketch first, and carving starts only after you approve it. This step is where you fix the size, pose, ornaments and finish, so take your time and ask for changes if anything feels wrong.
Ready pieces from our showroom usually ship in 3 to 5 days. Custom moortis usually take 3 to 6 weeks, and large temple moortis can take longer. We give you a date with the quote.
Step 5: Follow the carving on WhatsApp
One of the worries of ordering from a distance is not knowing what is happening. We send photos on WhatsApp at every stage, from the rough cut to the final painting, so you can see the moorti take shape and ask for small changes before the finishing is done.
Painting and gold work are done last, and you approve them before the moorti is packed. You can watch how a moorti goes from a plain block to a finished piece in our workshop video.
Step 6: Packing and delivery
Marble is strong but the fine parts of a moorti, like fingers, flutes and crowns, need protection. Every moorti we send is packed in a wooden crate with foam lining and shipped insured, to any city in India and overseas. Keep the crate upright and open it carefully, ideally with two people for anything above 18 inch.
Step 7: When it arrives
Open the crate, check the moorti in good light and send us a photo. Our moortis are finished to traditional proportions, so your pandit ji can perform pran pratishtha on arrival. For daily care, wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth, rinse with clean water after abhishek and dry fully, and avoid lemon, vinegar, soap and chemical cleaners.
Ordering from abroad
Indian families living overseas often want a moorti from Jaipur for their home mandir or local temple. The process is the same as within India: share your choice on WhatsApp, approve the photos or drawing, follow the carving, and we ship the crated moorti insured to your country. Because WhatsApp works across time zones, you can reply whenever it suits you. Ask about delivery to your city when you request a quote, as shipping cost depends on the crate size and destination.
For temple trusts and committees
Temple moortis are usually larger, and the committee often has a fixed pran pratishtha muhurat. Share the garbhagriha dimensions, the deity and form, and the date early. We guide committees on moorti size and platform height, and help with installation of large pieces. See our marble mandirs and the full moorti collection for forms we carve regularly.
